Alex and I were shopping along Bloor after Holt Renfrew’s Spring Bloom event (got snapped for the HR Muse blog - more on that later) when a lady stopped and gave some very generous compliments on my apparently “luscious”, curled hair. I know it sounds silly, but she made me smile.
When people go out of their way to be nice, it inspires me to do the same.

Thank you so much! I actually don’t have many secrets, but I know getting trims often keeps your ends from splitting further, which allows your hair to reach its growing potential! Also, using less heat on your hair lessens damage - I’ve definitely seen a difference since I’ve had no time/became too lazy to style my hair. There are a lot of styling alternatives that require no heat - think braids, hats, bobby pins, bows, etc.
As well, I don’t wash my hair everyday. Sounds gross, I know, but my sister (who is a hairdresser at Voila) recommended that I should skip every other day. The reason being is that over-washing your hair dries your scalp, which signals more oil production to make up for the loss. This results in an overproduction of oil, which churns the vicious cycle of having to wash your hair daily. In the beginning, my hair needed washing everyday, but when I started skipping, my scalp significantly slowed its oil production after a couple of weeks.
Another tip I learned a few days ago (though I can’t take the credit - from my girl, Jess) is that taking fish oil capsules help stimulate hair growth! You can buy the capsules at any drugstore/pharmacy!
Have a great day and thanks again! :-)
From the back. Random caramel streak, you need to be dyed soon.
at the nape is replacing the top knot (yay!). I could never pull of the top knot because I have an abnormally round face and the hairstyle just emphasized the roundness (which is the opposite effect it should have, since the knot adds height). Plus, my hair is really, really thick and relatively long - all that weight gives me a headache. Here’s my take on it:

If you’re planning to get it done, ask the hairdresser to curl your hair and have it flow into a hidden bun. You don’t want the bun to be obviously detached, you want your hair to look like it just flows - I hope that makes sense!
Natural mix feather extensions.
after wanting them for so long and I finally have them in my hair! I love them so much I ordered more grizzlies and thicker rooster feathers.
